Last night, me and the husband came home from sushi to find a letter taped to our door.
We were a little confused. Who is this Gretchen from #290 and what made her so upset that she wrote a letter and hiked up 13 steps to tape it to our front door. We tried remembering what it was that we had done and decided this was the most accurate depiction of our evening.
7:00pm - Husband left to a meeting leaving me all alone at home.
7:00 - 11:30pm - Husband gone, I blog, do research for several projects, read, brush teeth and iron clothes for tomorrow's work day.
11:30pm - Husband arrives home. We discuss his meeting while preparing for bed.
11:50pm - I set my alarm clock to 6:45 the next morning and I fall into a deep sleep.
I'm not sure which was more audible, my typing on the computer or my reading, but I am still genuinely baffled. Has this sort of thing ever happened to you?
YES! This happened to us before except we were living BELOW the neighbors who complained. And they weren't so kind to leave a note, instead the would bang so hard on the floor that the lights would shake. This came to a head when I was alone in the apartment, eating pizza, and reading blogs. It baffles me to this day that those activities were even audible at all!
ReplyDeleteI have had to do this to someone living above me. They were knocking around all hours of the night though. Like dropping bowling balls on the hardwood floors or something like that. But according to your timeline I am baffled at the noise complaint here "what noise"
ReplyDeletewe have upstairs neighbors. they don't speak English but they have a piano. hard times down here at practice time, let me tell you. but i'd NEVER leave a note. but maybe blogging is way louder than piano for hours at a time?? ;)
ReplyDeleteYOURS, MINE AND OURS
haha. I guess I'll have to keep my blogging down a bit! We'll see if Gretchen finds any more noise violations in the future. I have a feeling she might.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you're sleep dance partying?
ReplyDeleteUm, hello? It's obviously the IRONING. If you could keep that down a little bit we could all sleep better at night. ;o)
ReplyDelete"Night time activities"
ReplyDelete...I just had to laugh. I think Gretchen might be a tad jealous ;)
PS: On a more "serious" note, I remember living in an apartment and having to put up with things like this all the time... If I were you I would just knock on her door and ask her politely what she meant: maybe she'll realize the noise was not coming from your apartment after all...

haha, do you read your blogs outloud?
ReplyDeletethats pretty funny.
I like the way she writes her name though, what a lovely "G" :)
Gretchen? grumpy?
ReplyDeleteGretchen doesn't sound very gregarious.
ReplyDeleteThis made me laugh out loud at work. Thanks for sharing! :)
ReplyDeletewhoops! I blushed a little when I realized what else nighttime activities could implicate. so sorry. My husband did take the note to her, just to hear her side of things but she wasn't home. oh well. I can only assume I was A.) dancing in my sleep or B.) steaming the pleats in my pants too ferociously. I've been brushing my teeth extra carefully as well.
ReplyDeletethis is so funny. which was more audible. your typing or reading really is making me laugh so hard. I hate stuff like that.
