Until this past weekend, my office desk looked like the photos above. Disheveled scraps of notes and drawings scattered among silk ribbon, invoices, and craft supplies. As of Saturday, wedding season is behind me and the invoices have been filed away, supplies re-organized and projects completed. It has been a whirlwind of a summer, one that felt a lot less summer-y and more work-y than ever before. I don't know where I heard the quote or why I mindlessly drew it one day a few weeks back, but it's pinned above my workspace as a daily reminder: there are no shortcuts to places worth going. No matter how overwhelming it all gets, I just remember that I'm not taking any shortcuts.
